Graded readers tell a story using simplified language, and are tailored to learners at a specific proficiency level. They allow you to enjoy the pleasure of reading, learn new words and new language structures, without the challenge of overly difficult texts.
Graded Readers Loan Service
Readers are available for a monthly or summer loan (from June to September); they can be picked up at the Language Centre Labs . (“Centro Linguistico Laboratori”; opening hours here).
Why is reading important for language learning?
Reading in a foreign language is a key part of learning because it offers a personal and immersive experience in the language, aiding long-term retention. When reading, we come across new words, but also already known vocabulary and structures which can be reviewed in different and natural contexts.
It’s good to read different types of texts to expand your vocabulary, but it’s also important to choose texts that genuinely interest you: motivation can have a significant impact on the quality of learning.
