Nicola Galloway
Nicola is Senior Lecturer (TESOL) at The University of Glasgow. She is an applied linguist with an interest in the pedagogical implications of the use of English as a global lingua franca and the internationalisation of higher education in non-Anglophone contexts. She has authored 7 books in the fields of Global Englishes and English Medium Instruction (EMI). Forthcoming books include one on the internationalisation of higher education and a new Routledge Handbook of Teaching English as an international language. She is Director of the Education, Languages and Internationalisation (ELINET) network (www.elinet.org) and has developed three MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) for EMI professional development (Japan and Indonesia). She has recently been awarded an ESRC/AHRC Shape catalyst grant for a project on EMI professional development.
David Lasagabaster
David Lasagabaster is Full Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (Spain) and Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University (South Africa). His research revolves around EMI (English-Medium Instruction), CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), attitudes and motivation, and multilingualism. He has published widely in international journals, books and edited books. Among others, he has co-edited “English-medium Instruction at Universities: Global Challenges” (Multilingual Matters, 2013), and “Language Use in English-medium Instruction at University: International Perspectives in Teacher Practice” (Routledge, 2021). He is the author of “English-medium Instruction in Higher Education” (Cambridge University Press, 2022).
